UKVIA, the UK vaping association, says more can be done to reduce environmental waste before considering a ban on disposable vape.
The vaping trade body joined experts from an all-party parliamentary environment group in Westminster earlier this week. Environment Minister Rebecca Pow pointed to the primary value of vape as a means of helping people quit smoking and the government’s second priority to prevent youth exposure to vaping.
Association director-general John Dunne agreed, claiming that more work needed to be done before a ban on disposable vape could be considered and that such a ban would not help the hundreds of people who died from smoking-related diseases.
「Research by the Royal College of Physicians and the Cancer Research Center has shown that vaping is the best way to quit smoking, with a 95% reduction in harm. Vaping is our best chance,」 he said.
Financial reporter Alexandra Heal, who was present at the same time, revealed that 138 million disposable vape were sold last year, equivalent to two per person.
